At SRM Urgent Care, we offer a variety of minor procedures to patients in need of immediate medical attention. Some common examples of minor procedures performed include:
Minor Procedure
- Laceration repair: This involves stitching up a wound to close it or applying Dermabond (skin glue).
- Foreign body removal: Objects that have become lodged in the skin, eyes or ears can be removed safely and efficiently by urgent care staff.
- Wound irrigation: This procedure involves cleaning a wound with water or an antiseptic solution to prevent infection.
- Abscess drainage: An abscess is a pocket of pus that can form under the skin. We can drain the abscess to relieve pain and prevent infection.
- Splinting and sling: Fractures, sprains, and dislocations can be treated by urgent care staff by placing a splint or sling to immobilize the affected area and promote healing.
- Minor burn treatments: We treat minor burns, such as sunburns and minor kitchen burns.
- Pap Smears
- Injections to help alleviate pain in joints like shoulder, knee or trigger point injections
It’s important to note that these procedures are considered minor and may not require a specialist, but in cases of severe injuries or illnesses, patients may need to be referred to an emergency department or a specialist.
